The YWCA of Winston-Salem has announced its 2013 Women of Vision award winners. Dr. Brenda Allen will receive the Education Award; Rae-Ling Lee is the Student Award winner; Leah Hopkins Crowley is the Volunteer Award recipient; Linda Davis will take home the Non-Profit Award, as will Jean Irvin; Kirsten Royster will receive the Shirley Shouse Career Award; and Lida Hayes-Calvert is the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award. This year’s ceremony will be held May 16 at the Anderson Center on the campus of Winston-Salem State University. Georgia State Rep. Alisha Thomas Morgan will be the guest speaker. She made history at age 23, becoming the first African-American to serve in the Georgia House of Representatives for Cobb County. She was elected to her sixth term in July 2012.
Tickets are $40 and the deadline for purchasing them is May 15.
